The healthcare industry is a complex hybrid of providers, payers, personnel and other stakeholders engaged in a socially relevant industry comprising over 13% of the Gross Domestic Product of the United States. This class looks at the high level economics of the healthcare industry and “connects the dots,” showing how all the pieces fit together.
Learning Objectives Of The Class
This class is designed to:
Present an overview of key concepts in health care financial management and their importance to the economic well being of providers
Develop an understanding of the healthcare industry and its various providers, personnel and payers
Learn how the Medicare, Medicaid and Managed Care payment systems affects the economics of providers
Understand the legal, tax and compliance issues prevalent in the industry
Discuss some of the various financial and clinical terms and acronyms used in the healthcare industry to convey its messages.

Anyone (financial, clinical, administrative personnel) interested in a complete economic overview of the complex $1.2 trillion healthcare industry and some of the language (jargon) used to make it run
Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Information
This 100-minute course qualifies for 2 hours of CPE Credits.
